A new international resource for communicating information about food risks has been formed, called the International Center of Excellence in Food Risk Communication. The organization and its website aim to “ensure effective communication and informed decision-making about food risks, from farm to fork.”
The effort was initiated by global food and health organizations, government agencies, academic institutions, and nonprofit organizations. Founding partners include the USDA, the Food Standards Australia New Zealand, Health Canada, the International Food Information Council (IFIC) Foundation, the Joint Institute for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, and the National Center for Food Protection and Defense.
The center’s website provides resources to help government officials, health professionals, academics, food producers, journalists, and the public communicate concepts, practices, research, and data about food safety, nutrition, and health.
IFIC will serve as the center’s primary facilitator and will manage the website.
