Soy specialist Solae (St. Louis) says that its new Supro Nugget 173 is the first soy protein nugget to combine protein and grains.
The nugget contains 60% soy protein and 40% multigrain such as rice, oat, and barley.
Solae says that it taste-tested the nugget concept on consumers. Consumers rated a multigrain protein bar containing Supro highly, giving the concept 7.3 out of 9 points.
Also known as soy crisps, soy protein nuggets can be used in nutrition bars for high protein content.
Solae also offers Supro Nugget 570, which comprises 90% protein-the highest soy protein-containing nugget on the market, according to the company.
