Layn Natural Ingredients has launched a natural antioxidant extract called SophorOx.
Layn Natural Ingredients (Newport Beach, CA) has launched a natural antioxidant extract called SophorOx, derived from Sophora japonica L., a natural botanical extract with synergistic polyphenols standardized to ≥ 90% flavonoids, including quercetin, rutin, isorhamnetin, kaempferol, genistin and genistein. According Layn, a recent in-vivo animal study headed by Vedic Lifesciences found that the ingredient significantly reduced oxidative stress and inflammatory markers associated with high intensity exercise, and was well tolerated with no adverse effects.
The ingredient was shown to inhibit a number of pro-inflammatory compounds and reactive molecules associated with oxidative stress including 8-Isoprostane, malondialdehyde, 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine, C reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-1 beta, and interleukin-6. As a potent antioxidant, SophorOx may be suitable for a variety of nutraceutical products targeting joint health, inflammation, exercise recovery, cognition, eye health, heart health, allergies and skin health as either a standalone ingredient or in combination with other ingredients.
“At the core of Layn Natural Ingredients’ vision is innovating natural botanical solutions that benefit people, pets and the planet,” explains Jim Roza, chief scientific officer at Layn USA, in a press release. “We developed SophorOx by looking at consumer trends and needs, including healthy agers and millenials, who are increasingly seeking natural, preventative strategies to live longer, healthier lives, along with sports and active consumers who experience oxidative stress and are looking to natural solutions for post-work out healthy inflammation support, and the growing populations of gamers, workers and students increasingly in front of computers, not to mention pets who can also benefit from this powerful ingredient.”
