Gencor Nutrients (Anaheim, CA), a company specializing in Ayurvedic herbal extracts, is extending its reach into the medical food market thanks to a new joint venture with pharmaceutical firm Prismic Pharmaceuticals (Scottsdale, AZ). Gencor says that its own science-backed ingredients can improve the quality of life for people with a wide range of age-related disorders.

Gencor will provide sourcing and new product development services to Prismic, under the terms of the agreement. Additionally, Gencor will provide regulatory and commercial advisory services and assistance with international clinical studies, emphasizing Asia and South America.

“Gencor is excited about the prospects of working with Prismic Pharmaceuticals,” said company chairman Jith Veeravalli. “We are impressed with Prismic’s long-term plans to introduce a portfolio of innovative, science-based and patent-protected prescription medical foods.”

“This agreement enables Prismic to partner with a true leader in the supply of specialty ingredients for the medical food and nutraceutical industries around the world,” added Peter Moriarty, Prismic’s chairman.
