The ingredient won the 2011 North American new product innovation of the year award in the dietary supplements joint-health category.
Frost & Sullivan has awarded ESM Technologies’ (Carthage, MO) NEM natural eggshell membrane ingredient for joint health the 2011 North American new product innovation of the year award in the dietary supplements joint-health category.
Notably, the award recognizes the ingredient’s eco-friendly factor, as it makes use of eggshell byproducts. ESM says that more than half a million tons of eggshells are disposed of in U.S. landfills each year.
“The NEM product developed by ESM Technologies not only meets the patients’ requirement for a safe, natural, and effective product but also meets the industry’s requirement of sustainable production,” said Frost & Sullivan research analyst Lalithambigai Ananthan.
Regarding NEM’s joint-health benefits, Ananthan stated, “NEM not only benefits arthritic patients, but also athletes, sportspersons, and the general public who want to improve their joint health.”
ESM says clinical trials have shown that NEM can improve joint comfort and flexibility in 7 to 10 days, with a small, 500-mg daily dose.
