Eevia Health Oy (Seinäjoki, Finland), a producer of organic health ingredients made from plant extracts, upgraded its equipment, machines, and technology to improve functionality, productivity, and throughput. The upgrade was an approximately €1 million investment that was 100% equity financed by the company’s owners.

Improvement in functionality were directed at maintaining quality during the extraction process of compounds from natural plant material. Eevia Health offers the shortest value chain in the industry, with a strong focus on sustainability and traceability.

“We are very pleased to have completed this factory-upgrade,” said Stein Ulve, CEO and founder of Eevia Health Oy, said in a press release. “It puts us as a competitive company for high-quality, branded ingredients in a €500 billion global nutraceutical ingredients market. The investments will especially benefit our manufacturing of polyphenolic extracts from arctic bilberries and lingonberries, as well as elderberries. Some of the improvements are radical. For instance, earlier, the residence time (the time the extracted liquid has to be in the process step) for extraction liquids in one process step was four hours, while now this step only takes a few seconds. This greatly benefits quality.”

Eevia Health Oy will celebrate the reopening in Kauhajoki, with a formal opening ceremony as a live-streamed webinar at the end of June.
