A patented, proprietary blend of two botanical extracts-Rhaponticum carthamoides, also known as maral root, and Rhodiola rosea-will debut at the upcoming Vitafoods Europe trade show taking place May 7-9 in Geneva, Switzerland. The ingredient, trademarked Upletic, is a new introduction from Naturex (Avignon, France).
According to Naturex, “Upletic has been designed to enhance muscle protein synthesis, strength, and performance, and is clinically proven to improve lean mass in sporty as well as athletic people.” The company says these benefits are supported by “a comprehensive program of in vitro, in vivo, and clinical trials.”
At Vitafoods, Naturex will highlight a number of botanically based sports nutrition concepts, including what it calls WinCaps preworkout supplements featuring Upletic for muscle growth; WinGel, a sports gel containing extracts of maca, acerola, and Panax ginseng for energy; and WinShake, a post-workout recovery beverage featuring an oat flour called Sweoat, as well as acerola and Ultimine, a slow-release, whole-food iron mineral derived from koji (Aspergilus oryzae).
