Cyvex Nutrition is now offering Alfalfa 95%, a sodium copper chlorophyllin derived from alfalfa. The ingredient is suited for food, beverages, and supplements, and is touted as a very bioavailable source of chlorophyll. Chlorophyllin is also water-soluble and stabilized. Cyvex says that in vitro studies have demonstrated chlorophyllin’s role as an antioxidant, as well as a detoxifier in eliminating harmful toxins and carcinogens from the body. Topically, it can also promote wound healing. Cyvex adds that Alfalfa 95% is the first naturally derived green colorant. The ingredient joins other “green” antioxidants in Cyvex’s fruit- and vegetable-sourced ingredient portfolio, which includes Alfapro juice protein and a broccoli-based line of ingredients.
