A new curcumin ingredient is being touted for improved bioavailability. MicroActive curcumin, launched by BioActives LLC (Worcester, MA) and MayPro Industries (Purchase, NY), is described as a “micronized, multistage time-released ingredient.
The companies say that the ingredient’s improved bioavailability was achieved by solubilizing the curcuminoids to reduce their particle size. The particles are then encapsulated in a time-release format suited for the stomach acid and the higher pH of the small intestines.
