AlgaeCal Inc. (Vancouver, CA) has introduced a line of plant-based calcium products to support bone health. Its products include:

  • AlgaeCal, whichcontains 13 bone-supporting minerals from living algae and vitamin D
  • AlgaeCal Plus, which contains 16 bone-supporting minerals and vitamins D3, K2-7, and C
  • AlgaeCal’s Bone Builder Pack, is the combination ofAlgaeCal Plus and its Stontium Boost supplement, which contains strontium citrate.

At the center of these products is a unique species of algae, lithothamnion superpositum, which contains all 13-bone supporting minerals. According to the company, its products are clinically supported to increase bone density in adults, rather than just slowing its depletion.

“A plant source of calcium and supporting trace minerals seemed more potent than traditional supplements,” said Dean Neuls, co-founder and CEO of AlgaeCal, in a press release. “Which is why we supported clinical trials to assess the efficacy of AlgaeCal. The study results were astonishing. 65-year-old women who should have been losing bone density were gaining new bone instead.”
