The trade association hires a veteran of herbal medicine standards from the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention.
The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA; Silver Spring, MD) has named Maged Sharaf, PhD, as its new chief science officer.
Sharaf previously served 15 years as the director of herbal medicine standards for the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP). At USP, Sharaf helped co-develop the USP Dietary Supplements Compendium and botanical standards for inclusion in the USP–National Formulary.
