The company is selling compound coatings and fillings made with 100% RSPO-certified palm oil.
For manufacturers formulating with compound coatings and fillings instead of chocolate, ADM Cocoa UK (Liverpool, UK) can now produce these ingredients with “segregated sustainable palm oil.” Such products use only palm oil that has been certified by the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO); as the name suggests, the palm oil is separated from sources that are not RSPO-certified, enabling products made with 100% RSPO-certified oil.
ADM says its decision to make these products available for European manufacturers marks another step towards its sustainable cocoa initiatives. ADM has also entered a production venture in Pará, Brazil, where the company entrusts 6000 hectares of palm oil plantations to smallholder family farmers. Cocoa processing from this land is scheduled to begin in 2016.
