Stress Relief in Candy Form?

Pharmachem Laboratories’ (Kearny, NJ) Lactium ingredient can now be delivered in candy form. Studies have shown that the ingredient, a patented milk casein hydrolysate, can relieve symptoms of stress as well as promote relaxation and sleep.

The company believes the new candy form will have widespread appeal. “The concept that drove this innovation is that even the thought of enjoying a hard candy exerts a calming effect of its own when consumed, making it a natural delivery form for an ingredient like Lactium,” said Mitch Skop, director of product development, Pharmachem, in a press release.

Pharmachem worked with manufacturer Hillside Candies (Hillside, NJ) to develop the individually wrapped, organic honey hard candies. Each piece of candy delivers 150 mg of Lactium. Pharmachem says it can be consumed during the day or the night without causing drowsiness.
