Recent research published in the Journal of Functional Foods found that Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics (OM-X) from Essential Formulas Inc. improves fatigue in healthy adults (2022). In the 12-week double-blind, placebo-controlled comparative human study, 40 healthy men and women aged 40 – 59, were randomly assigned to receive either three capsules/day of OM-X or a placebo. Fatigue was measured visual analog scale (VAS) and chalder fatigue scale (CFS).

Significant differences between the two groups were detected in VAS and CFS with the ingestion of OM-X reduced feelings of fatigue for healthy people with temporary fatigue. OM-X is a fermented extract that consists of several kinds of Japanese plants with 12 kinds of lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria. According to the researchers, “the various antioxidants, [lactic acid bacteria], and bifidobacteria contained in OM-X may have suppressed oxidation caused by active oxygen, improved the balance of the intestinal environment, and suppressed inflammation, thereby improving the balance of the autonomic nervous system and producing an anti-fatigue effect.”

“Over 30 years of supporting science has earned Dr. Ohhira's Probiotics the respect of scientific, academic, medical, and holistic health communities worldwide,” said William Schoor, president of Essential Formulas Inc., in a press release. "We are proud that this new study is an added component in substantiating the trust and loyalty in this exceptional supplement.”
