The company says its natural, sun-grown chlorella is grown near Lisbon.
A Portugal-based supplier, Allma, has introduced itself as the newest player in the microalgae ingredients market. The company specializes in chlorella (Chlorella vulgaris), which the firm produces in a closed, photo-bioreactor production system.
Allma’s chlorella product line includes powder, tablets, and vegetarian capsules. The company is targeting the food market (including beverages, yogurt, and coloring), the dietary supplement market, beauty (for purported collagen-building and wrinkle-reduction purposes), and the feed and pet markets.
The company says its natural, sun-grown chlorella is grown near Lisbon. The company touts its closed production system for preventing contamination, as opposed to the open-pond systems that some algae producers use. (Read more about different ways of growing algae.)
