Two microbiome ingredient specialists are teaming up to launch synbiotic formulas at the SupplySide West trade show happening in Las Vegas next week. The formulas combine Clasado Biosciences’ (Berkshire, UK) Bimuno GOS galactooligosaccharide prebiotic with Probi AB’s (Redmond, WA) Probi Digestis and Probi Defendum probiotic ingredients.

Probi Digestis comprises the probiotic strain Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 299v. Meanwhile, Probi Defendum is a combination of two probiotic strains, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum HEAL9 and Lacticaseibacillus paracasei 8700:2.

The companies state in a press release: “Notably, in a market first, recent research into Bimuno GOS and Probi Defendum demonstrates a synergistic synbiotic combination that showcases selective utilization of the prebiotic GOS by the probiotic. In addition, the combination of Bimuno GOS and Digestis showcases complementary mechanisms of action and enters the market as the most researched synbiotic ingredient pairing, with extensive studies behind both ingredients covering almost 340 publications between them.” The companies will share their new formulas at SupplySide West at the Probi booth (#5851).

Each synbiotic formula addresses a different health concern. The combination of Bimuno GOS and Digestis is designed to support gastrointestinal and digestive health, while the combination of Bimuno GOS and Defendum aims to support both digestive and immune health.

In the press release, Per Rehné, CEO of Clasado, said of the partnership, “By synergizing our expertise, we are taking the guesswork away for formulators with predetermined combinations, based on two of the most comprehensively studied ingredients of their kind. This unlocks faster speed to market as well as more reliable results through formulation and testing.”
