Charles Ross & Son Company (Hauppauge, NY) has rolled out its new Portable High-Shear Mixing System, which is designed for powder dispersion for liquid, emulsification, and homogenization applications. The vessel is closed, temperature controlled, and built in a size that allows it to be easily moved from room to room.
Each of the new mixing systems comes with a dished-top cover, complete with a 3-inch tri-clover port that includes a dip tube extending into the vessel. The fully removable dip tube allows for suctioning and transferring of the finished product, in addition to allowing for incorporation of liquid ingredients. The machine also includes an 8-inch charge port for the addition of solids.
Additionally, the mixer features a four-blade rotor that runs up to 3600 rpm within a close-tolerance slotted stator, “delivering intense mechanical and hydraulic sheer,” according to Charles Ross. It is mounted on the cover of a vapor-tight sealing arrangement, and is driven by a 5-HP stainless-steel, wash-down duty, explosion-proof motor.
Picture above is the 200-L Portable High Shear Mixing System, which features stainless-steel 316L wetted parts, sight/charge ports, chloride-free insulation with stainless-steel sheathing, ASME dimpled jacked rated for 85 psig, high-accuracy weighing scale, and NEMA 4X gas-purged controls.
