HMB can enhance the recovery of skeletal muscle damage in both trained and untrained individuals.
In a review published in February, the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) says beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB) can indeed enhance the recovery of skeletal muscle damage in both trained and untrained individuals. The news was reported by HMB ingredients supplier Metabolic Technologies Inc. (MTI; Ames, IA).
In the review, researchers examined 82 studies on HMB efficacy, dosing, safety, and mechanisms of action. HMB has been shown to improve muscle hypertrophy, strength, and power when combined with high-intensity training. MTI says a dose of 38 mg per kg of body weight shows optimal results.
