P.L. Thomas (Morristown, NJ) and Grow Green Industries (Lake Forest, CA) will premiere natural alternatives for preservatives and food sanitizers at the IFT12 show in Las Vegas this month. The two solutions are aimed at replacing chemically based ingredients used in food production.
P.L. Thomas says its newest solutions-eatSafe natural food wash and eatFresh natural antimicrobial-are made up of synergistic GRAS and organic ingredients that can improve food preservation and taste in raw, cooked, or processed foods.
The companies report that eatSafe has demonstrated the ability to remove 99.999% of Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria while eatFresh has extended shelf life 200% longer than test controls.
P.L. Thomas says its solutions further distinguish themselves from chemical-based solutions because “Unlike many other sanitizing and preservative products, eatFresh and eatSafe have a broad spectrum of efficacy, with the ability to handle different pathogens by varying use levels, rather than more traditional methods of combining different preservative types…”
