New Food Chemicals Codex Will Include Probiotics, Steviol Glycosides

The U.S. Pharmacopoeia (USP; Rockville, MD) has opened a public comment period for its newly proposed Food Chemicals Codex (FCC), to be published in August 2012. This edition of the FCC will include standards for several new items, including probiotics, steviol glycosides, benzoates, infant formula, and flavoring ingredients.

Already featuring over 1000 monographs, the FCC is an ongoing collection of internationally recognized standards for ingredient purities and identities.
