Sternchemie's red palm oil imparts golden-yellow to orange-red coloring from a fruit source.
Sternchemie GmbH & Co. KG (Hamburg, Germany) has come out with a red palm oil suited for natural food coloring. Called SternRed, the ingredient’s high beta-carotene concentration offers golden-yellow to orange-red color in foods.
SternRed is sourced from the flesh of Malaysian palm fruits. It’s this fruit source that gives SternRed not just carotenoids, but high levels of vitamin E that can improve product shelf life. Low-temperature processing ensures that these concentrations remain high.
Color-stable and heat-stable, even fryable, Sternchemie’s red palm oil can be listed simply as vegetable oil. The company can also offer red palm oil certified for sustainability by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
