Additionally, the firm says, studies show benefits for bone and heart health.

Coconut Water Powder
Superfoods retailer Navitas Naturals is now selling organic coconut water powder for on-the-go hydration. Procured from the juices of young, organic coconuts, coconut water powder is freeze-dried to maintain flavor and natural sources of electrolytes (sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and phosphorus). One serving of the powder provides more potassium than a banana, according to Navitas Naturals. The company is offering this product for convenience when preparing smoothies, hydration sports drinks, and other recipes. Sold in a 5.8-oz resealable pouch, the product is certified organic and raw, vegan, gluten free, and kosher.

Specially formulated for infants six months and older, the liquid supplement comes in a 1-oz bottle with a dropper so that it can be easily added to baby formula or food. “Dosage is based on the child’s weight, and the convenient dropper makes it easy for parents to measure out exactly what baby needs,” says Keri Marshall, MD, the company’s chief medical officer. Studies have shown that DHA omega-3 supports learning and language abilities, as well as healthy brain, eye, and nervous system function.

Probiotic Sliced Bread
A new probiotic sliced bread called Perman Pan Tajado, sold in Colombia, features Sabinsa’s (East Windsor, NJ) branded, GRAS-affirmed LactoSpore Bacillus coagulans probiotic strain. Sabinsa says it is the first non-dairy functional food to include LactoSpore. Among LactoSpore’s benefits is its hardiness to withstand the acidic environment of the stomach so that it can germinate and proliferate in the gastrointestinal tract within a few hours. The ingredient is stable at room temperature, requiring no refrigeration. The company says LactoSpore powder is standardized to contain 15 billion spores per gram. LactoSpore powder can also be supplied with lower spore counts. The bread is sold by Perman, a Colombian bread products producer.

Mt. Capra has introduced instant Yo-Quick yogurts that can be added to cold water and eaten without requiring refrigeration. Cumberland is marketing its monk fruit tabletop sweetener for consumers who want to cut back on sugar, and for diabetics in need of sugar substitutes.
