Frutarom USA’s (North Bergen, NJ) Origanox ingredient, designed to combat lipid oxidation in food applications to increase shelf life, has been certified organic by The Inspection & Certification Body Secal Israel.

The ingredient is a natural solution for preventing oxidation, which can decrease shelf life and affect taste, color, and texture. It is a cold water-soluble plant extract derived from the herb family Labiatae.

“Synthetic antioxidants typically used in food applications have been suspected of contributing to health problems, making them a major obstacle to producing organic health foods with long shelf life,” stated Laurent Leduc, vice president of health for Frutarom Americas. “Origanox enables organic food companies to market their products with longer shelf life and clean label.”
