This marks the group's inaugural Global Leadership Awards recognizing contributions to regulatory development.
The International Alliance of Dietary/Food Supplement Associations (IADSA; Brussels) presented its first-ever Global Leadership Awards to two individuals the group says have played fundamental roles in shaping dietary supplement regulations. One award went to Zubaidah Mahmud, chair of the ASEAN Traditional Medicines and Health Supplements Scientific Committee, for helping to create “the most comprehensive regional regulatory model for supplements in the world.” The second award went to John Hathcock, PhD, who, most recently until his retirement, worked with the Council for Responsible Nutrition (Washington, DC) as its senior vice president of scientific and international affairs. He was honored for his “contribution to the science that underpins dietary supplement regulation.”
