Has the state of nutritional health claims in Europe got you down?
European Advisory Services (EAS; Brussels) will host a June 9 workshop in Brussels to give companies advice on what is still possible in the European health foods and dietary supplement markets.
“The claims regulation has fundamentally changed the marketing rules for communicating health messages on food products,” says Stefanie Geiser, EAS regulatory affairs manager, “but it has not closed the door. Companies should find ways of benefitting from the use of already approved heath claims and carefully check that their claims dossier and scientific studies conform to EFSA standards…Marketing will continue, but in a different form and with more significant limitations,” she added.
