DSM’s GeniVida Is GRAS Affirmed

DSM Nutritional Products Inc. (Parsippany, NJ) has received self-affirmed Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) status for its geniVida pure and soy-free genistein. The ingredient is touted for reducing menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes.
Genistein, the principal isoflavone found in soybeans and soy foods, also plays a role in increasing bone mineral density because genistein exerts estrogen-like regulation of bone metabolism and assists with bone remodeling.
