The X-Series Ultra-High Shear Mixer is intended for products needing great uniformity and narrow particle size distribution.
Charles Ross & Son Co. (Hauppauge, NY), purveyor of the high-shear mixer, has announced it’s new X-Series Ultra-High Shear Mixer. The machine is intended for products needing great uniformity and extremely narrow particle size distribution in a dispersion or emulsion.
The company detailed its newest machine in a press release this week:
The X-Series generator consists of a precisely-machined stator with concentric rows of teeth and a matching rotor turning at top speeds over 11,000 ft./min. Process fluid enters the center of the generator and accelerates outward through channels in the intermeshing teeth of the rotor/stator. This subjects the product to intense mechanical and hydraulic shear-and thousands of shearing events in a single pass.
Potential applications for this high-shear mixer include, but are not limited to, salad dressings, sauces, spreads, gum dispersions, fruit pulps, syrups, and beverages. Accessories are available, including gas seals, sanitary connections, and mix chambers.
