Charles Ross Expands Ribbon Blender Inventory

Article

Most standard and sanitary models can be shipped in two weeks’ time.

Mixing equipment supplier Charles Ross & Son Co. (Hauppauge, NY) has expanded its inventory of ribbon blenders. More than 80 ribbon blenders, accommodating different volumes and densities, are now in stock. Most standard and sanitary models can be shipped in two weeks’ time.

Ribbon blenders are used for blending dry powders, granules, and pellets, as well as paste-like materials, wet granulations, and solid-liquid suspensions. Batch components are blended in a U-shaped trough with a horizontal agitator comprising inner and outer helical ribbons, which move materials in both an axial and radial flow manner. The company says its ribbon blenders are more reliable and perform better than belt- and chain-driven designs, which can cause losses in horsepower and efficiency due to slippage, and require less maintenance.

As far as custom designs, the company says that these, too, can now be built to order with faster lead times. An example is the 10-cu-ft Sanitary Ribbon Blender pictured, with 150-grit stainless steel 316 internal and external surfaces, bottom discharge extruder, lantern rings, spray bar system with atomizing nozzles, and more.
