KollaGen II-xs is a chicken sternum collagen type II powder hydrolysate; KollaGen I,V,X is the company’s eggshell membrane powder; and TendoGuard is a mixture of collagen type II and eggshell membrane powder.
Certified Nutraceuticals (Murrieta, CA) has a gained a U.S. patent covering several of its ingredients targeting healthy joint cartilage. KollaGen II-xs is a chicken sternum collagen type II powder hydrolysate; KollaGen I,V,X is the company’s eggshell membrane powder; and TendoGuard is a mixture of collagen type II and eggshell membrane powder.
The company says its exclusive, proprietary water extraction technology allows it to extract denatured chicken sternum collagen without using solvents such as ethanol or harsh chemicals. “This process preserves important nutrients and molecules to yield more hyaluronic acid and more chondroitin for optimum assimilation to help damaged cartilage,” the company explains.
It also uses natural enzymes to control and maintain a very high molecular weight of hyaluronic acid and chondroitin-a requirement for collagen derived from chicken sternum. “Other hydrolyzed collagen products on the market are processed and produce very low-molecular-weight collagen, which is not suitable for chicken sternum due to the contents of the delicate carbohydrates-hyaluronic acid and chondroitin-which needs to be at a higher molecular weight,” the firm explains. “The low molecular weight is suitable for bovine, porcine, and fish collagen type I and III.”
KollaGen II-xs is 100% water soluble and suited for capsules, tablets, beverages, functional food, and cosmetics. Its recommended daily dose is 2000-24000 mg.
The patent is #8,344,106 B1.
