Dietary supplement marketers can customize these market-ready capsules with their own branding.

Capsugel (Morristown, NJ), which specializes in capsule delivery technologies, has launched 10 “ready-to-go,” condition-specific formulas in its Licaps capsules, expanding the company’s reach in finished-dosage products. Dietary supplement marketers can customize these market-ready capsules with their own branding.

Capsugel has offered some finished-formula options for Licaps in the past, but this is the company’s first extensive launch of its kind. “While Capsugel has offered a limited line of ready-to-go, finished-dosage formula options for Licaps, what is new here is that the ready-to-go Licaps capsule product line contains 10 scientifically backed, high-quality supplement compounds,” adds Jean-Philippe Talmon, head of Capsugel’s Dosage Form Solutions business in EMEA.

The new line targets the following health categories: heart health, immune health, energy and weight management, digestive health, eye health, bone health, brain health, men’s health, and liver detox, as well as ingredient-centric products such as popular nutrients curcumin (Curcuma longa) and krill oil. Product ingredients include magnesium, vitamin D, vitamin K, DHA omega-3, Ginkgo biloba,Saw palmetto, CoQ10, zinc, iron, pre- and probiotics, phosphatidylcholine, lutein, and zeaxanthin. Each finished product features Capsugel’s Licaps two-piece, vegetarian, hard capsules designed for liquid ingredients or semisolids.

Capsugel adds that these ready-to-formulas can be further tweaked depending on customer preference. Companies also have numerous options for customizing the look of these capsules, including the use of different colors and prints.

Capsugel’s expertise in delivery systems enabled the company to design each Licaps with the ideal, targeted-release profile. “For example, some ready-to-go Licaps capsule products use DUOCAPS ‘2-in-1’ capsule-in-capsule technology, and others use liquid beadlets in capsules as novel ways to combine ingredients,” the company’s press release states.

The line is also designed to meet EU regulations and can be further customized to meet regulations elsewhere. “Formulations for the United States may vary slightly,”  Talmon adds. In addition to being vegetarian, the capsules are free of gluten and other allergens and are also kosher and halal certified.
