Authors of a newly published medical book, Innovative Rheumatology, discuss the benefits of ParActin, a branded Andrographis paniculata ingredient for rheumatoid arthritis. ParActin is sold by ingredients supplier HP Ingredients (Bradenton, FL).

“Several studies describe a potent anti-inflammatory action of Andrographis paniculata and andrographolide,” the authors state. “Andrographolide shows a reduction of the production of pro-inflammatory mediators, such as COX-2, iNOS, and cytokines….A. paniculata standardized extract (30% andrographolide) in clinical trials showed effectiveness for symptom relief and reduce serological parameters in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, and the data support for a long-term treatment similar to [disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs].”

Among the clinical trials discussed by the authors is a 14-week, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study on 60 patients with chronic active rheumatoid arthritis. Supplementation with 30 mg of ParActin andrographolide three times daily was linked with significant reduction of such symptoms as swollen joints.
