Rice starch can add texture from a highly-digestible food source.
Beneo GmbH (Mannheim, Germany) is now supplying baby food rice starches for fruit and vegetable-based baby foods.
Rice is often characterized as a highly digestible protein. These hypoallergenic, organic, and non-GMO ingredients can add texture to jarred baby foods, while improving shelf life and water management in products.
Beneo is dealing with the infant population, a market sector that requires especially high standards for food safety. In an interview with Nutritional Outlook, product manager Pierre Donck said the rice starches will “exceed the regulatory as well as very strict industry standards in terms of microbiology, heavy metals, and mycotoxins.”
