Once finalized, the acquisition will give ADM expertise in natural flavors and colors.
To the tune of €2.3 billion, Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM; Decatur, IL) has agreed to purchase WILD Flavors GmbH (Eppelheim, Germany). WILD is a natural flavors specialist with more than 3000 customers worldwide and multiple global offices.
“This acquisition expands ADM’s ability to serve customers’ evolving needs today and well into the future,” said ADM chairwoman and CEO Patricia Woertz. “Natural flavor and ingredients is one of the largest and fastest-growing consumer trends in both developed and emerging markets, and WILD Flavors is the world’s leading provider of natural flavor systems to the food and beverage industry.”
WILD’s flavor offerings include varietal flavors, ethnic flavor profiles, and even unique flavor systems such as “music themed flavors” and “old world flavors.” The company also supplies colorants, fruit juices, sweeteners, seasonings, cheese powders, and mint oils and extracts.
ADM expects its acquisition will complement the company’s growing food ingredient portfolio. The transaction values WILD at more than 16 times its core earnings, according to Reuters.
