Fortitech (Schenectady, NY) develops custom nutrient premixes for any health and wellness direction, including child nutrition. “Parental concern for their child’s health is an important market driver,” Ram Chaudhari, PhD, senior executive vice president and chief scientific officer for Fortitech, tells Nutritional Outlook. “Concerns range from immunity as a top health concern, to gut health and products containing added sugars. Fortitech can develop a nutrient premix that, for example, includes prebiotic fibers for gut health or satiety for weight management, as well as a sweetener such as stevia to replace sugars in a product formulation.”
Chaudhari notes that several health concerns are raising awareness for other ingredients, such as docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) omega-3 and choline for cognitive function.
