The novel supplement was designed to eliminate the side effects that consumers often experience when consuming iron supplements derived from simple iron salts, including stomach upset and an unpleasant metallic taste.
Private-label supplement manufacturer PharmaLinea (Ljubljana, Slovenia) announced that its iron supplement innovation, called >Your< Iron Syrup, is now featured in over 30 markets globally. The novel supplement was designed to eliminate the side effects that consumers often experience when consuming iron supplements derived from simple iron salts, including stomach upset and an unpleasant metallic taste.
Since launching >Your< Iron Syrup, PharmaLinea says the product has now been launched in over 30 markets, including by supplement subsidiaries of companies like Stada and Queisser Pharma. It some markets, products made with >Your< Iron Syrup are now “market-leading,” PharmaLinea’s press release reports.
Another benefit of >Your< Iron Syrup is that its efficacy is supported by studies. A clinical trial was conducted on iron-deficient children, while an animal study showed that supplementing with >Your< Iron Syrup significantly improved markers of iron deficiency compared to ferrous sulphate.
>Your< Iron Syrup has also received numerous awards, including most recently at the Vitafoods Europe trade show in May in the “Best-Tasting Functional Beverage Award” category for >Your< Iron Forte Liquid Sticks.
These successes show the opportunities for >Your< Iron Syrup in markets worldwide, PharmaLinea says. In the press release, Matevž Ambrožič, marketing and PR director at PharmaLinea, stated, “While iron supplements may not immediately spring to mind as a lucrative segment, this relatively niche market is growing fast across numerous countries due to similar market situations. Most of the currently available solutions on the market have severe drawbacks—they often cause severe side effects, have an unpleasant metallic taste, and lack clinical support.”
He continued, “As iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency in the world and can have severe effects on one’s quality of life, introducing a solution that solves these very evident issues can present an ideal growth situation. The drawbacks of products can be seen and felt by consumers immediately; therefore, they are immediately able to recognize an effective solution. Consequently, the growth of such products is explosive. Upon seeing the market data, even companies that are not primarily interested in iron deficiency can recognize the opportunity, which is why we are so successful in launching iron products in so many different markets with major companies, such as subsidiaries of Teve and Stada.”
