The new ingredients are VinOgrape Plus and Carolean.
Nexira (Rouen, France) will introduce two new weight-management ingredients at the SupplySide West trade show happening October 23-27, 2023, in Las Vegas, at booth #5825. The new ingredients are called VinOgrape Plus and Carolean.
VinOgrape is a microbiome-modulation ingredient derived from a natural grape extract rich in antioxidant compounds like OPCs and anthocyanins. According to a company press release, “VinOgrape Plus has shown proven prebiotic effect by significantly modulating the gut microbiome profile after dysbiosis induction. VinOgrape has also significantly increased the abundance of Akkermansia muciniphila, suggesting a beneficial role in metabolic disorder.”
The company says that its longstanding expertise in acacia prebiotic ingredients has imbued it with a strong understanding of the microbiome.
The second new ingredient, Carolean, is designed for appetite control and centers on cactus as its star ingredient. The ingredient’s cactus constituents have a synergistically beneficial effect, the firm says: “Carolean is a patent-pending complex, combining carob and nopal. Synergistic efficacy has been demonstrated to show the superiority of Carolean complex versus single ingredients to reduce appetite and limit cravings. Simply put, each ingredient has a limited capacity of viscosity, but when combined the viscosity becomes exponential, contributing to extremely positive results when ingested.”
The company’s recent acquisition of a carob processor allowed it to develop the ingredient, it adds.
