FrieslandCampina Ingredients (Amersfoort, The Netherlands) has unveiled a new high concentration protein gel concept for sports nutrition brands. Formulated with the company’s Nutri Whey Isolate Clear, the application can provide up to 15% protein content in a small, convenient portion, with potential formulations that include squeezable pouches and spoonable pots. The concept is meant to align with trends in the sports nutrition market such as single-serve products and snacks meant for on-the-go consumption.
“This is a really exciting development,” comments Vicky Davies, global marketing director, performance and active nutrition at FrieslandCampina Ingredients, in a press release. “With the mainstreaming of performance nutrition, demand is growing for high protein supplements and snacks that fit within a busy lifestyle – so with little or no preparation and designed for fast consumption. This ‘conveniently nutritious’ trend was clearly visible in our recent global research with FMCG Gurus into the evolving sports nutrition sector.”
The formulation can extend manufacturers’ portfolio in terms of format, flavor, and nutritional density, given its adaptable viscosity, and clean and neutral taste profile.
