The ingredient features the company’s flagship AlphaWave L-theanine ingredient and features mushroom extracts from Nammex.
Ethical Naturals (Novato, CA) has created a new proprietary ingredient for relaxation. Called MycoCalm, the ingredient combines the company’s flagship AlphaWave L-theanine ingredient, which has been shown to increase alpha brainwave activity while supporting calm relaxation without drowsiness, and an organic red reishi mushroom extract.
“MycoCalm addresses two of the fastest-growing segments in the industry today: mushrooms and stress-relief,” said Cal Bewicke, president of Ethical Naturals Inc., in a press release. “These two ingredients complement each other extremely well, creating an effective solution in the high-demand stress-support category.”
The organic red reishi extract in MycoCalm comes from mushrooms supplier Nammex (Gibsons, BC, Canada). “This extract, from actual mushrooms, not mycelium or starch, is standardized for 30% beta-D-glucans and contains triterpenes and other naturally occurring compounds from reishi mushroom. Red Reishi (Ganoderma lingzhi) is a core herb in Chinese traditional medicine, used for its ability to combat many kinds of stress, and to replenish the body’s energies,” the press release states.
This is the latest addition to Ethical Naturals’ Mushrooms-Plus line of mushroom extract formulations. The line also includes Ergothioniene-Plus, Lion’s Mane-Plus, and Cordyceps-Plus. Nammex also supplied the mushroom extracts for the line's other ingredients, including shiitake and and Lion's Mane mushroom extract.
