The first ingredients to launch under the Refortify brand are magnesium malate, mono-sodium malate, and mono-potassium malate.
Bartek Ingredients Inc. (Stoney Creek, ON, Canada), a supplier of malic acid, fumaric acid, and maleic anhydride, unveiled a new line of electrolyte and fortification salts at this week’s SupplySide West trade show in Las Vegas. The first ingredients to launch under the Refortify brand are magnesium malate, mono-sodium malate, and mono-potassium malate.
According to the company’s press release, “These ingredients address the crucial electrolyte and mineral supplement needs of consumers and can serve brands launching products in this fast-growing category.”
The company calls its Refortify ingredients superior to other similar ingredients on the market. For instance, Refortify magnesium malate is said to be very bioavailable and offer a taste-free profile and a lower cost per unit of magnesium. Meanwhile, the sodium hydrogen malate and potassium hydrogen malate ingredients provide electrolytes and offer a “fresher, more balanced, and true-to-fruit” flavor, “enhancing sour and helping to mask off-tasting active ingredients.”
It was important, added Bartek’s director marketing and business development, Mohammed Emami, that the ingredients did not sacrifice flavor or functionality. Supplement and beverage manufacturers can now use Refortify to meet their diverse needs, the firm adds.
