Puffed Fruit
Explorer's Bounty (Miami) caters to health-conscious snackers with the introduction of its Gallop-A-Loozas puffed fruit line.
Gallop-A-Loozas consists of 100% pure fruit that is grown via sustainable farming practices. The proprietary puffing process that is used to make the fruit snacks adds extra crunch and infuses the puffs with flavor. The six varieties include organic cinnamon-infused banana, and pineapple as well as regular plantain, pineapple, banana, and pineapple-banana. With no added sweeteners, a bag of Gallop-A-Loozas contains less than 100 calories per serving.

What does Dannon Co.'s (White Plains, NY) new yogurt packaging and a plaid skirt have in common? Pleats. The company is now marketing yogurt in what it calls "crush cups." The cups are molded with accordion-style pleated sides that permit them to collapse, so that consumers can squeeze the cup to dispense yogurt for eating directly from the container.
"The Crush Cup makes it even more fun for kids to enjoy Danimals, and it's easier to enjoy on the go because no spoon is needed," says Dannon's Michael Neuwirth. Because of the pleats in the package walls, the cups are also easily compacted to take up less space when discarded.
