The company first introduced the ImprovD3 ingredient at the Vitafoods Asia trade show this year.
Activ’Inside (Bordeaux, France) will promote its new ImprovD3 ingredient for immune health at the SupplySide West trade show happening October 23-27, 2023, in Las Vegas, at booth #2264. The company first introduced the ImprovD3 ingredient at the Vitafoods Asia trade show this year. It is available for both private-label or further customization.
ImprovD3 combines green tea flavanols and vitamin D3. Of the two ingredients, the company says, “Vitamin D in its active form plays a crucial role in both the innate and adaptive immune systems, contributing to our body’s ability to defend against pathogens. On the other hand, green tea extract boosts the immunological response by enhancing leukocyte’s function and plasma antioxidant capacity.”
Activ’Inside says it’s seen a synergistic effect between vitamin D3 and green tea. It says ImprovD3 has been shown to enable up to 17% of vitamin D3 to convert into its active form. The company determined this by measuring “calcitriol concentration in vitro in keratinocytes (skin cells) with vitamin D3, green tea extract, and the combination of the two latter ingredients,” a press release explains. “ImprovD3’s formula has been shown to significantly increase calcitriol production by boosting the conversion of vitamin D3 into its active form by 17%.”
The ingredient is patent pending and has pending EFSA claims in Europe, the firm adds.
