In an April 23, 2025, press release, Kensing LLC, announced the introduction of its sunflower-derived vitamin E, which will be featured at Vitafoods Europe 2025, taking place May 20-22 in Barcelona, Spain. The natural, clean label tocopherol, called Sun E, comes in various formats and is applicable in functional foods, dietary supplements, and personal care products.
The press release also highlighted the sustainable model of sourcing raw materials for Sun E from sunflowers grown for the edible oils industry. “Sun E is sourced exclusively from an upcycled side-stream of sunflower oil production,” stated Serge Rogasik, CEO of Kensing, in the press release. “We create tangible value by harnessing the full potential of a precious by-product of the food industry. Our approach not only maximizes process efficiency but also significantly contributes to sustainability by ensuring nothing goes to waste. This pure and potent addition to Kensing’s vitamin E portfolio will strengthen the company’s position as a leading global producer of natural vitamin E.” The company had also recently acquired AOM (Advanced Organic Materials).
Sun E is made without modification of the tocopherol molecule, with a natural RRR-α-profile. Sun E is also Non-GMO Project Verified.
“Not all vitamin E forms are equal,” adds Denis Bendejacq, vice president, global R&I at Kensing. “Biological activity is largely determined by the composition of tocopherols and their different isomers. The RRR-alpha isomer is the most bioavailable, and sunflowers are naturally rich in this isoform. Our body naturally concentrates RRR-tocopherols via a set of stereospecific receptors.”
As noted in the press release, vitamin E cannot be synthesized in the body on its own, though synthetic forms can contain 12.5% of the isomers absorbed by the body. Additionally, the vitamin supports skin, eyes, and cardiovascular system against oxidative stress risks, along with multiple stages of women’s health.
Kensing will feature Sun E gummies at booth #CC.B17 at Vitafoods Europe.
