At this year’s annual Vitafoods Europe trade show, scheduled to take place at the Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland on May 15-17, attendees will have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with industry leaders throughout the nutraceuticals supply chain.
Event organizers note that the event draws over 21,000 senior decision-makers from more than 115 countries, and focuses on the following key industry areas: ingredients and raw materials, branded finished products, contract manufacturing, and private-label services and equipment.
Notable additions to this year’s event include a New Ingredients Zone and Ingredients Theater, where guests can learn more about ingredients, products, and services through case studies and presentations; an Omega-3 Resource Center, in association with the Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s (GOED; Salt Lake City, UT); Sports Nutrition Zone and Sports Nutrition Theater; and a product sampling bar and showcases. There will also be a New Products Zone to showcase new functional foods and beverages.
In addition to forums on business, marketing, and consumer trends, Vitafoods 2018 will feature a wealth of educational programs and panels, including on such hot-button ingredients as hemp, kombucha, and fungi. At the Springboard Pavilion, visitors will be able to meet with industry entrepreneurs and can engage with ingredients and technology experts by taking one of the themed Innovation Tours or self-guided Discovery Trails.
Speakers at the Vitafoods Centre Stage include Suzanne Robinson, Happen UK, who will be focusing on the growth of the “free from” trend, and Monica Feldman, Consumer Health Strategy Inc., who will be speaking on fasting. Experts from Innova Market Insights will also be on hand at the show showcasing data on emerging trends at the Market & Trend Overview.
The Vitafoods Life Stages Theater, meanwhile, will offer sessions on nutrition requirements from infancy throughout life. Astrid Stuckelberger, PhD, Institute of Global Health at the University of Geneva & Lausanne, will give the keynote presentation, “Beauty and Health: Going from Anti-Aging to Advanced Health.” Emma Schofield, PhD, global food science analyst, Mintel, will discuss food, drink, and healthcare for seniors.
Digestive health, which has become a key focus for the nutraceuticals industry, will also feature prominently in the Vitafoods lineup. The Probiotics Resource Center, in association with the International Probiotics Association, will provide information about probiotic technology, consumer analysis, and probiotic market trends. The Probiotics R&D forum, sponsored by DuPont Health & Nutrition (Geneva), will help educate attendees about new ways to incorporate probiotics into a food matrix. Cardiovascular health, and in particular the role of anthocyanin for vascular function, will be examined in the Polyphenols R&D Forum.
Finally, this year’s education program includes a brand-new Personalized Nutrition Workshop, during which attendees will learn ways to improve consumer awareness, as well as how to navigate legislative and policy changes that impact the category. Navigating the regulatory waters in the nutraceuticals industry is as important as ever, and sessions on regulation and policy will also be available to interested attendees.
