Product authentication company TruTag Technologies Inc. (Kapolei, HI) announced that its microtag on-dose technology solution has launched in The Daily Wellness Company’s (Honolulu) U.S. product range. Daily Wellness is a nutraceutical manufacturer for women’s health products. The launch marks the first time that TruTag’s silica microtags are available in a finished product.
Michael Batholomeusz, CEO, TruTag, commented on the partnership in a press statement from the company: “We are very pleased that Daily Wellness selected TruTag’s on-dose product identity solution for their industry leading and growing natural product lines and to launch this program together in the United States.”
According to TruTag, its micro particle–based pure silica, which the company calls TruTags, enable its customers to “authenticate, identify, and trace solid oral dosage form (SODF) tablets and capsules along the entire length of a supply chain.” TruTags, said the company, are edible, covert, and are pure silica, an excipient that is considered Generally Recognized as Safe. Here’s how they work: TruTags “act as invisible on dose bar codes for capsules and tablets,” which allows manufacturers to obtain product and product origin information from the pill itself, rather than from external packaging. Said the company: “This powerful security diagnostic tool enables brand owners to counteract product diversion, identify unauthorized grey markets, and find other distribution vulnerabilities.”
In the press release, Denny Kwock, CEO, The Daily Wellness Company, explained that TruTag’s authentication technology is a way for the company to show its “continued commitment to product quality and integrity.” He added that “TruTag’s on-dose identity solution will allow us to access detailed information about our products including manufacturing origin without the need or reliance on packaging or lab results. It is one of the most advanced solutions available to ensure both pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products are valid and genuine.”
Daily Wellness also noted that, following the U.S. launch of the TruTag identity solution, it plans to implement the product across other products as it expands its distribution internationally, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. The TruTag solution, it said, will also be integrated into its new Physician’s Formula line.
