Prinova Promotes Reginator Amino Acid Ingredient for Sports Nutrition at SupplySide West 2017

Sep 27, 2017

Thanks to a new manufacturing and distribution agreement with ingredient supplier Zanda LLC, ingredients firm Prinova is highlighting an advanced essential amino acid ingredient called Reginator at SupplySide West. Reginator is a patented blend of nine essential amino acids, plus arginine, that has been shown to increase muscle synthesis, enhance athletic performance, and support a healthy, balanced diet for active people of all ages, the company says.

The formulation was developed by Robert Wolfe, PhD, who is currently the Warmack Chair in Nutritional Longevity, a professor of geriatrics, and director of the Center for Translational Research in Aging and Longevity, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. “Dr. Wolfe is internationally recognized for his work on muscle metabolism and has recently turned his attention to aging muscle,” says a Prinova press release. “In their previous research, Dr. Wolfe and his colleagues demonstrated anabolic responses of muscle protein to essential amino acid supplements, resistance exercise, and aerobic exercise in normal young volunteers.”

The company explains that Reginator helps replace essential amino acids that are lost during digestion, exercise, and aging. “Exercise and aging reduce a body’s ability to rebuild muscles, and the body does not replace amino acids naturally,” it says, meaning that supplementation is key. The ingredient is FDA GRAS affirmed, non-GMO, gluten/allergen-free, and can be provided in vegan or non-vegan blends. It can serve as a standalone supplement or be included with other protein ingredients and is suited for beverages, powders, capsules, and tablets. A 3.6-g dose is considered efficacious and can significant affect muscle protein synthesis, the firm says.
