Nutrilite to Open New Michigan Facility in 2013

Amway’s Nutrilite brand will open a new three-story, $24 million manufacturing facility in Ada, MI, that is expected to be fully functional by the second quarter of 2013. The site will produce many of the brand’s most popular products, including Positrim meal-replacement powder mix and Nutrilite All Plant Protein Powder made of soy, wheat, and pea protein. Operations are being moved from the company’s current production facility in Lakeview, CA.

The new Michigan plant will employ more than 50 workers and will support production for the nutrition category of Amway, which accounted for more than 40% of 2010 sales. The 120,000-sq-ft facility includes a $1 million quality-assurance laboratory. “Amway continues to make strong investments in manufacturing so we can bring the very best quality of products to consumers and our distributors all over the world,” stated Lauren Walker, vice president of the Ada operations.
