Frost & Sullivan Lauds Nutraceutix’s “Controlled-Release” Probiotics
Frost & Sullivan has awarded Nutraceutix (Redmond, WA) its 2010 Technology Innovation of the Year award for the company’s LiveBac production process and BIO-tract delivery system for probiotics.
The award recognizes that the LiveBac process, combined with the Bio-tract delivery system, helps ensure probiotic survival through the entire product cycle—including manufacturing and transportation through consumer ingestion and digestion.
“The formation of the protective barrier on the probiotic tablet allows for controlled release of beneficial bacteria throughout the day—a characteristic that is more commonly associated with advanced pharmaceutical-grade delivery technologies, rather than with nutraceutical-grade delivery technologies,” stated Frost & Sullivan senior industry analyst W.F. Kee, in a press release.
