Fifty BASF Personal Care Products Get Cosmos Certification
Fifty products in BASF’s (Ludwigshafen, Germany) personal care line have been approved as compliant with the standards of Cosmos, a standard for natural and organic cosmetics. Launched in April 2011, the Cosmos standard represents the harmonized standards of the BDIG, Cosmebio, Ecocert Greenlife, ICEA, and SOIL Association certification bodies.
Those BASF products had also already garnered Ecocert and/or BDIH registration, the company says.
“BASF is therefore one of the first raw materials suppliers who offer a wide range of products in line with the new Europe-wide Cosmos guidelines and criteria,” the company stated in a press release.
“This means that when formulating organic and natural cosmetics according to the Cosmos standard, our customers can choose from a considerable range of recognized and approved products,” said Ute Griesbach and Stephane Lacoutiére, BASF European marketing managers, in a press release.
