With turmeric’s star in no danger of fading, Nature’s Way Brands, LLC (Green Bay, WI), has launched the first two products in its new Turmerich line of turmeric-based herbal supplements.
Both formulas deliver 400 mg of turmeric extract standardized to 95% curcuminoids per serving, concentrating the dose of curcumin—the principal antioxidant in turmeric—that consumers receive. Further, both formulas aim to improve curcumin absorption via the inclusion of 10 mg of BioPerine black pepper extract, which has been shown in studies to boost absorption of a number of nutrients.
Both products are targeted to deliver distinct benefits. The Turmerich Joint product includes such joint-friendly ingredients as UC-II type II collagen complex—a branded form of collagen, which makes up much of the body’s cartilage—standardized Boswellia serrata extract, and organic burdock. Meanwhile, Turmerich Heart adds heart-healthy ingredients like deodorized garlic, standardized pomegranate, standardized hawthorn, and coenzyme Q10 to the turmeric and pepper extract.
“Since 2013, turmeric has dominated the market as the top-selling ingredient in herbal supplements,” noted Dan Countryman, herb category brand manager at Nature’s Way, in a press statement. “As research on turmeric grows, consumers continue to recognize the health benefits of this amazing botanical.” The company sees its targeted Turmerich products as adding to the selection of standalone turmeric ingredients that consumers can choose from.
And because Nature’s Way receives non-GMO and TRU-ID certifications for its herbal products, consumers can feel secure knowing that best practices segregate the herbal ingredients from genetically modified organisms, and that the herb found in the product actually matches the herb found in nature.
