DuPont Nutrition and Health has launched DuPont Danisco VEGE Cultures in the South American region. This portfolio of cultures is specially formulated for the plant-based fermented products market, and has already shown success in Nordic European countries, France, China, and Asia, where the cultures were launched in 2018.
DuPont Danisco VEGE Cultures were developed for a wide range of plant-based raw material, including soy, coconut, nuts, oat, maize, rice, fruits, and vegetables. They come in an easy-to-use freeze-dried format that provides a shelf-life of one year at 4 degrees Celsius, and is convenient for small and large scale production. Finished product applications for these cultures include non-dairy yogurt, fermented drinks, and spoonable desserts.
The South American region provides an opportunity for DuPont to gain a share in the plant-based fermented food market. Overall the last three years, states DuPont in a press release, 3,000 new fermented beverages were launched globally, and 10% of those launched occurred in South America in 2018.
